About Gateway Sailing Club
The pioneer of sailing in Mumbai — connecting people of all ages, skills and means with Indian waters.
Gateway Sailing Club is based off the Gateway of India at Apollo Bunder, Colaba. Our mission is to connect people of all ages, skills and means with Indian waters through educational and recreational sailing programmes that encourage personal growth and respect for the sea.
What we aim to do
- Run safe, well-organised sailing programmes.
- Teach a focused curriculum that emphasises safe boating.
- Promote sailing as a lifelong activity.
- Help identify future Indian international competitors and Olympic hopefuls, while giving the wider community a chance to experience sailing.
How we teach
Classes are small, with individual attention. Lessons emphasise water safety, wind awareness, boat handling, seamanship, decision-making, leadership and respect for the marine environment. Courses progress from learn-to-sail to intermediate and advanced racing.
All staff at Gateway Sailing Club are certified YAI dinghy instructors.
Charters for everyone
Alongside our sailing programmes, we offer private charters on sailboats, sail yachts, catamarans, speedboats, motor yachts and a party ferry boat for celebrations, corporate outings and harbour cruises.
Registration
The club is registered under the Govt. of India Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (Udyog Aadhaar) and the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act 1948.
